1. Which is more durable? Abrasion test reveals the truth.
Backpacks made of two different materials were tested by dropping them into a tumbler filled with keys:
Nylon: After 500 tumbles, only minor fuzzing appeared on the surface, thanks to its long fiber structure and high elasticity.
Polyester: After 300 tumbles, obvious abrasion marks were visible, but thanks to its high-density weaving process, it is not prone to snagging.
Interesting phenomenon: Nylon developed a matte finish after wear, while polyester retained its original sheen.
2. The trade-off between lightweight and load-bearing capacity
The choices of gym enthusiasts and travel enthusiasts are significantly different:
Weight comparison: A polyester bag of the same size is 15 kg lighter. -20%, more suitable for daily commutes
Load-bearing test: Nylon bags deform 30% less with shoulder straps than polyester bags when carrying 8kg.
Special design: Some high-end nylon bags use a honeycomb structure, which reduces weight and enhances support.
3. Significantly different performance in rainy weather
Rainstorm simulation tests revealed interesting results:
Short-term water resistance: Both are initially water-repellent, but nylon absorbs 50% less water than polyester.
Prolonged immersion: After 2 hours, the humidity inside a polyester bag is 3 times higher than that of a nylon bag.
Drying speed: Nylon takes 4 hours to air dry naturally, while polyester only takes 2.5 hours.
